Aboriginal heritage: between a rock and a hard place

NSW: NSW’s state-owned energy company – Ausgrid- destroyed a significant rock engraving on Sydney’s north shore in late 2010. The company entered a guilty plea but have only been slapped with a $4690 fine, dodging the maximum penalty in a case that illustrates the vulnerability of the state’s priceless Aboriginal heritage, writes AMY MCQUIRE.

NEW SOUTH WALES: Ausgrid, formerly Energy Australia, will most likely “get off with a modest fine” over the destruction of a significant Aboriginal site on Sydney’s north shore, the NSW Greens say.

Sydney rock art destruction case stalled

NEW SOUTH WALES: Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) is still dragging its feet on whether to prosecute a major energy company over the destruction of a significant Aboriginal heritage site on Sydney’s north shore, predicting it won’t finish its investigation until later this year.
